St. Patrick's Day will quickly be here in less than two weeks, and no one recorded St. Patrick's Day songs like Bing. One of my favorites he recorded was "Eileen". The tune of the song was an adaptation of the early century Irish song "The Mountains of Mourne". New lyrics were provided by Sylvia Fine, who was the wife of Danny Kaye. Crosby's voice does evoke great sadness in this ballad. He recorded the gem on November 6th, 1949 with Victor Young and his Orchestra...
