A BING CROSBY CAMEO
Here is Bing's cameo from the forgotten film PEPE(1960). The best part of the movie were the cameos, especially Bing's appearance!

Cantinflas was pretty famous in Mexico (and Latin America generally, perhaps?) and had appeared in "Around The World in 80 days" a few years earlier. "Pepe", as I remember it was supposed to give him a kick start into breaking into Hollywood. In this several Hollywood "names", including Bing, helped with their cameo appearances. However neither film did the trick for him and he remained "South of the Border" thereafter.

Cantinflas was known in Argentina but not "pretty famous", so my grandparents tell me. And the rest of this film is "forgettable", I think.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The film is so-so but the cameo appearances are the best parts of the film.
ReplyDeleteI actually have the soundtrack on CD...I don't think I ever played it. I'll have to check it out!
