Bing Crosby poses with his new $8,250 (over $70,000 in today's prices) Mercedes in the Stars and Stripes parking lot. The crooner picked up the car in Stuttgart and visited the newspaper office on his way to Frankfurt, where he played some golf.

All of the fans of Bing know his special in 1958 which was sponsored by the ill conceived Edsel. The great special lasted longer than the car did, but Bing has pitched cars for a long time in his career. I am not sure when this adverstisement was published, but from the make of the car and Bing's look I would say some time in the 1930s...

BING'S 1951 CADILLAC FOR SALE

Someone needs to save this car...

This 1951 Cadillac sedan is said to have belonged to Bing Crosby, and is now sitting in a farm yard in Carmel Valley not far from Bing’s famous home and golf tournament in Pebble Beach. Celebrity ownership is usually oversold, but Bing was on another level, and this car is offered so cheap that we hope it can be saved. It is for sale on Craigslist in Carmel Valley, California for $1650. Special thanks to blog reader John S. for this submission!
