PHOTOS OF THE DAY: A BALD BING

I am not sure the exact time that Bing started wearing toupees, but I would guess sometime around the 1933 period. Even while he was a Rhythm Boy in his mid 20s, Bing was balding. Even though Bing hated those toupees, he wore one all his life. He did love the opportunity to wear hats to cover up his balding, and it looks pretty good on Bing. Here are some pictures that capture Bing without his rug...

    Those are great pictures. He looks fine with the toupee. These days, no one would have given it a second thought!

    After seeing these pix, I can see why Bing disliked toupees. He looked far more natural and at ease without...and - men's hairpieces in those days were pretty strange looking.

    Watching Bing in a movie, they made his toupees look natural. However, some of Bing's toupees in public looked odd...especially when Bing got older. He definitely was more relaxed without them.
